Rambling Roundup 7/6 •Apps•Gadgets•Alcohol•

Curious about the content in here?  Take a look at the topics in the post title.  Rambling roundup are links, bits, and other assorted stuff that caught my eye, but might not warent a whole post.  Ranging from interesting bits of science and tech, to humor and videos.  There’s a little bit for everyone.  Think of it as your personal internet curated and brought to you daily.

• APPS • It’s amazing what apps are out there, and what technology that fits in your pocket can do.  Apparently there is an iOS app that can measure your pulse… using the camera on your phone.  Two reviewed on TUAW.  Cardiograph and Instant Heart Rate are the two mentioned here, but apparently there are others out there too.   • The Unofficial Apple Weblog

• GADGETS • And speaking of other health concepts:  There is a gadget you can attach to your iOS device and measure your blood pressure. (yes I know, this is a little old, but figured it fit in with the pulse checker apps).  Engadget did a report on it a while back and you can pick one up yourself at your local Apple Store for the low-cost of $129.   • engadget

• ALCOHOL • There are those that drink wine, and those that taste it.  For those that want to learn more about their wines and start keeping notes on what they drink, YumSugar has a rather nice little pdf you can print out to help you along with that, as well as helpful word vocabulary to describe that smoky, ripe raspberry, chocolate, wet rock tasting Cabernet Sauvignon YumSugar
