Web Comics

I  have a LOOOOONG list of web-comics I visit daily.  Here are my current Top 10.  They are listed alphabetically. Clicking on the item will bring you to their website.

Cyanide and Happiness
:
Updates: Normally 7 days a week
This comic can be a bit… disturbing but most the time you can’t help but laugh.  It’s one of those things that make you say “that’s awful… hilarious.”

Freak Angels:
Updates: Finished (just here till I select a new top 10)
Story follows 12 “Freak Angels” that were born with special abilities that ended up ending the world as we know it, and now have determined to protect people of London in the Aftermath.  This comic is one of a few unique comics that updates multiple pages at once.  Normally about 6 at a time, as a more “comic book” like style.

Girl Genius Online:
Updates: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Girl Genius follows the career of Agatha Heterodyne—a hapless student at Transylvania Polygnostic University who discovers that she has more going for her than she thought.  She’s a “spark”, aka mechanical mad scientist.  But she’s much more than that.   This comic originally was an actually comic book first and was placed online.  now he does both concurrently.

Order of the Stick:
Updates: weekly
Drawn entirely of stick figures (more for style than lack of talent). It follows characters in a DND world where they actually know they are characters.  which makes for some interesting setups. Other than that pretty much standard funny adventure romp.

Penny-Arcade:
Updates: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Penny arcade is one of the longer lasting comics.  it centralizes on Gabe and Tycho (the artist and writer) and their life and take on video games.  Most are one offs and there isn’t any story line.  Of note they are the creators of “PAX” which has replaced E3 as THE gaming convention in the US.

Real Life Comics:
Updates: Monday – Friday
This comic has gone form joke of the day, to obscure super sci-fi to daily life… and managed to keep them all concurrent within the same canon plot line.  Mostly funny oners, but some great over arching story lines.  Loosely follows standard geek humor.

Schlock Mercenary:
Updates: 7 days a week
Another LOOOONG lasting comic started back in 2000,  I’m pretty sure he hasn’t missed a single update since then.  That’s allot of strips.  Comic follows Schlock, an anamorphic being and the group of Mercenaries he works for.  Rather light hearted set in the far future with explosions, sci-fi and all the fun little narrator and “historical” bits.

User Friendly:
Updates: 7 days a week
Probably the longest comic strip i’ve been reading.  Stared back in 1997.  It follows a IT team for a local ISP.  Allot of high and low brow tech humor.  Characters include a walking dusts cloud that gained sentience in a  server rack, Cthulhu, an evil coffee thing, as well as the hap-hazard and way too smart for their own good IT team.

XKCD:
Updates: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Per the website – “Warning: this comic occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors).”  That should sorta get you the idea.  Mostly stick figures, but normally rather high brow geek humor.  Also be sure to check the alt text for each comic he does.
