An ordinary summer picnic becomes the first crack in the world’s end. As a fast-moving plague tears through the adult population, cities collapse, broadcasts turn into warnings, and a ruthless new power called Dominion rises from the chaos, promising order through fear. For Gabriel Voss, the horror turns personal almost immediately: the plague is not wholly unknown to him, and neither is the man leading Dominion, an ancient brother he hasn’t seen in centuries. With his wife Serenya, their twin daughters, and a small band of survivors depending on him, Gabriel is forced onto the road as the world he knew dies around him.

Elsewhere, within Dominion’s growing reach, Rhea Kaelis stands among the few adults deliberately spared to help rebuild the world in its image. A powerful general with terrifying abilities and a kingdom of her own beneath Dominion’s banner, she believes strength, discipline, and control are the only things separating order from ruin. But as the old world falls away and she is forced to confront the human cost of the new one firsthand, loyalty and conscience begin to pull against the role she was chosen to play.

But survival is only the beginning of a far greater struggle. As Gabriel and his family fight to endure the ruins of the old world, Rhea gathers the children of her region and helps shape them into something stronger beneath Dominion’s banner. New abilities awaken, buried secrets rise, and troubling whispers spread on both sides of lives that should not still exist. Between mercy and control, hope and fear, the future of humanity is already being claimed.
