iPad for Business: Workflow Apps

Part 3 of 5 in the iPad for Business series.  What can an iPad offer me for work?

Workflow Apps.  Everyone works in their own way.  Jotting down the bit of information, saving websites to come back to later, a way that they access and move about their files, everyone handles they way they do their work differently.  These are the apps to help you do just that.

iPad Workflow Apps

Dropbox ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dropbox/id327630330?mt=8 )
Free – Universal: An incredibly useful syncing folder that resides on each of your devices.  The iOS version allows access (when you have internet) and “favorites” that stay on your device taking up local space.  Integrated into most applications.

MobileMe iDisk/ iCloud ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mobileme-idisk/id320654497?mt=8 )
No longer offered/Free – Universal: For those of us that have Mobile Me, it’s a great way to upload and download files from your iPad to your computer.  However it has been discontinued.  Upside, free for all iOS5/Lion users, is iCloud which allows syncing of all your files on all devices (iOS5, mac, & PC). And it’s coming out this fall.

Instapaper ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/instapaper/id288545208?mt=8 )
4.99 – Universal: Save websites, blogs, etc for offsite viewing.  Great for remembering content for later, and very useful for offline browsing on Non-3G iPads.

Air Sharing HD ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-sharing-hd/id365541415?mt=8 )
9.99 – iPad: Simple way to turn your iPad into a server to upload and download files on any wi-fi Network.

Air Display ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-display/id368158927?mt=8 )
9.99 – Universal: Personally I don’t use this, but I have recommended it and it is pretty cheap.  I prefer to use my screen for the apps I’m mentioning, but having the option for a second screen is very enticing to some.

Idea Sketch ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/idea-sketch/id367246522?mt=8 )
Free – Universal: Easy, simple, straightforward.  This app allows to jot down flow charts or outlines with a couple clicks.  And best of all you can convert back and forth between the two styles automatically.

Touch Mouse ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/touch-mouse/id338237450?mt=8 )
Free – iPhone: This acts as a wireless trackpad/keyboard to a computer.  Good for presentations.

Wi-Fi Finder ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wi-fi-finder/id300708497?mt=8 )
Free – Universal: This is an easy to use program to find available Wi-Fi spots.  Make sure to download the offline database before you head out however.

(NoteiPad designed for the iPad, iPhone– designed for iPhone & scales for iPad, Universal– Designed for both, Native– Part of the iOS applications)
